A COMMUNITY-LED INITIATIVE IN NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, ONTARIO

Northumberland Can Feed Northumberland

Working toward a stronger local food system, together.

People across Northumberland's food system are coming together to understand what already exists, where the gaps are, and what we should work on together.

WHAT THIS IS

A growing conversation, not a finished plan

Northumberland Can Feed Northumberland is the name of a growing community-wide conversation — and a question we are exploring together: how can Northumberland feed more of Northumberland?

It builds on decades of work by farmers, food organizations, businesses, community groups and others across the county. Since 2024, three community gatherings have brought more people into the conversation and begun identifying where we might work together.

There is no predetermined plan. This is a growing coalition where people can bring their experience, knowledge and ideas, and help shape what comes next.

Strengthening our local food system could support farm livelihoods, keep more food dollars local, improve access to local food, and make our region more resilient. What is possible — and what it will take — is what we are working together to find out.

FOOD-SYSTEM MAPPING UNDERWAY

Understanding what is already here
